Towards Mapping Current Clean Energy Situation

Gloria Reuben, a Canadian actress and singer say "Clean energy is about offering people opportunity to do what's right  for themselves, and the people they love. It's about reducing the pollution that makes people sick. Its' about helping the Low income families struggle to pay their gas and electricity Bills." Mapping the Current Situations In Kisumu and Kibera- Nairobi, youth have been holding meetings to discuss how this saying can be realized. The meetings are looking at a possibility of visiting Kenya’s households, business premises and other clean energy projects soon by the #YouthBaton Team. The purpose is clear; to map out current situations as the first step to effective campaigns on clean energy. It shall also establish lasting community partnerships with the Project and other relevant stakeholders. The over-arching desire is about environmental benefits, energy for future generation, social enterprise opportunities and energy security. The youth groups will be on the ground mapping the current clean energy situation, with about sixty households targeted. At the same time,  usage of clean energy will be looked at from lighting, cooking and other forms, to fit a  the numerous purposes of  identification of the problem and formulating goals, change mapping, stakeholders analysis, setting objectives of the campaign, building campaign strategies, setting communication objectives, drawing key messages, plan of activities and timelines, budgeting and monitoring & evaluation. This initial step, therefore, will inform the next step on how the team will be approaching campaigns. The youth are adapting to the new way of documenting using the social media dashboard that has also posed some challenges. However, all #YouthBaton team agree that posting, liking, commenting and sharing has been proved to be the best methods to popularize any piece of information, hence its key that when the groups will be mapping current situation on clean energy in Kisumu and Kibera- Nairobi, social media documentation will remain key. Among the vehicles to carry on the approach includes: Blogging, Twitting, face booking, Instragraming and making use of the conventional reporting tools will all apply in this exercise. From this first step till the last one by the end of four Months, we will all say "Clean energy was about offering people opportunity to do what's right  for themselves, and the people they love.
